The Lie:
County Executive Bruce Blakeman lied about his private armed militia – being nothing more than “a list of volunteers.”
Why You May Believe the Lie:
Blakeman has ignored Freedom of Information Law requests, saying they “are not a militia” and they are “good citizens” who are willing to volunteer in the event of an emergency.
The Truth:
In 2024, despite police concerns, Blakeman created an armed secret militia which is accountable ONLY to him. He has refused to disclose the authority under which he created this group, the justification for its existence or any criteria for its deployment.
Action You Can Take:
- Share this post on your social media and email and discuss it with your friends.
- Call Blakeman at (516) 571-3131 and demand he disband his secret militia.
- Sign this petition opposing Blakeman’s dangerous militia.
