The Lie:
Why You May Believe the Lie:
The Comptroller has County-wide oversight responsibilities to uncover waste, fraud, and mismanagement. In Feb. 2022, Phillips announced her plan to audit the County’s broken tax assessment system.
The Truth:
In January 2023, Phillips released her assessment audit which called for a modeling system capable of performing valuations in-house of most residential properties, and a plan to keep assessment rolls current. Phillips abandoned her commitment and never implemented the fixes resulting in property owners having their assessments frozen for the entire time Phillips has served as Comptroller.
