The Lie:
County Executive Bruce Blakeman lied when he said he’s committed to protecting Nassau residents’ quality of life from extremist politicians.
Why You May Believe the Lie:
Blakeman frequently claims that he is protecting Nassau from extremist Albany politicians when he takes credit for promoting “safe neighborhoods, world-class programs and facilities.”
The Truth:
Blakeman refuses to stand up to the Trump administration as they slash:
- emergency food programs that provide a lifeline for food insecure Long Islanders;
- services that Nassau residents of all ages and backgrounds rely on, including Social Security, affordable healthcare, the IRS, and Veterans Affairs;
- NIH research grants that fuel Nassau County’s economy;
- and environmental protections that safeguard our water, soil, and air.
These extreme Trump policies, supported by Blakeman, will drastically undermine public health and safety, devastate programs and facilities, and undermine Nassau’s economic opportunity.
- In early 2026, Blakeman told the NY Post that he will never publicly disagree with Trump.
