Our mailboxes are flooded with MAGA Republican mailers full of lies. It reeks of desperation. Why can’t MAGA candidates run on their achievements, not lies and personal attacks?
The Truth:
The Reality: Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Candidate Sean McCarthy has never held an office with the authority to raise taxes. McCarthy is a 33 year veteran of Nassau County Police and current Commissioner of Port Washington Police.
The Lie:
- DeSena’s mailer attempts to falsely conflate tax hikes proposed by NYC Mayor Mamdani and NYS Gov. Hochul with a $32 million bond issued by the Town of North Hempstead to build a new Port Washington police station.
- The Facts: The bond request was unanimously approved by the North Hempstead Town Council – including DeSena, who is responsible for sending the false postcards!
Why this Matters:
- Truth Matters: Jennifer DeSena purposefully sent a factually false postcard to thousands of residents. Not only is she attempting to conflate her opponent for Town Supervisor, Sean McCarthy, with unrelated city politicians and state funding measures, she’s trying to label McCarthy as a ‘Tax Hiker” even though he had zero authority to raise taxes. And to add to her deceit, the project that she says caused the tax hike is one that she approved and then called a “major investment in our community’s future” when she attended the groundbreaking.
