The Lie:
County Executive Bruce Blakeman lied when he said he would cut Nassau taxes.
Why You May Believe the Lie:
In 2021, Bruce Blakeman ran for County Executive and promised to immediately cut taxes by over $100 million.
The Truth:
Blakeman HAS NOT CUT TAXES. Why? Because Blakeman hides the County’s deficits by using one-shot non-recurring funding sources, such as, interest earned on the $90 million in unspent funds that are supposed to be used to fight the opioid and fentanyl crisis. Instead of helping Nassau combat the drug problems, these funds sit in the bank to earn interest so Blakeman can conceal the County’s financial shortfall.
