The Truth:
Although Blakeman announced many times the hiring of almost 300 new police officers over 3 years, they replaced retiring police. The previous County Executive hired nearly three times the number of additional officers – 149 vs. Blakeman’s 54, which at that time earned Nassau the title of “safest county” in America. This is credited to the previous administration – NOT Blakeman.
