}<\/style>\n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2a9e9342 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2a9e9342\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman is misleading the public when he claims New York\u2019s Medicaid expenditures are \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/lilifepolitics.com\/news\/politics\/blakeman-hochul-spar-over-medicaid\/\">mind-boggling<\/a>.\u201d He makes this claim because New York spends more than Florida and Texas (but NY has fewer uninsured people).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-18fc2d58 elementor-widget elementor-widget-jnews_element_header_elementor\" data-id=\"18fc2d58\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"jnews_element_header_elementor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div  class=\"jeg_block_heading jeg_block_heading_5 jeg_alignleft jnews_module__1_6acbc6dfe5c7c   \">\n                <h3 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span><i class=' fa fa-feed'><\/i>Why You May Believe the Lie: <\/span><\/h3>\n                \n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-55ace860 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"55ace860\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Even though <a href=\"https:\/\/nysfocus.com\/2025\/07\/09\/trump-big-beautiful-bill-new-york-medicaid-snap\">over 1.5 million<\/a> New Yorkers will <a href=\"https:\/\/fiscalpolicy.org\/the-state-is-understating-threats-to-nys-medicaid-after-obbba\">lose<\/a> healthcare coverage when Republican federal cuts to Medicaid kick in January 2027, Blakeman claims that these cuts will merely eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse, and that the State should be making even <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LAx3piExZDE&amp;t=207s\">deeper<\/a> healthcare cuts.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4e6fd4b7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-jnews_element_header_elementor\" data-id=\"4e6fd4b7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"jnews_element_header_elementor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div  class=\"jeg_block_heading jeg_block_heading_5 jeg_alignleft jnews_module__2_6acbc6dfe6145   \">\n                <h3 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span><i class=' fa fa-eye'><\/i>The Truth: <\/span><\/h3>\n                \n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c4f9186 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5c4f9186\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthinsurance.org\/medicaid\/expansion\/\">NYS expanded Medicaid<\/a> under the Affordable Care Act in 2014, offering broader services than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kff.org\/uninsured\/key-facts-about-the-uninsured-population\/?entry=characteristics-of-the-uninsured-population-state-residency\">Florida and Texas,<\/a> which did not expand Medicaid. This resulted in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.census.gov\/library\/publications\/2025\/acs\/acsbr-024.html\">fewer uninsured<\/a> individuals in NY (7% compared to 16-22% in Florida and Texas) ensuring better access to preventive care and reducing long-term healthcare costs.<\/li><li>Republican healthcare cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill (OBBBA) threaten NY\u2019s hospital system, and vital services, particularly for vulnerable populations like the homeless and mentally ill. Blakeman wants to deepen those cuts.<\/li><li>In July 2025, Medicaid covered <a href=\"https:\/\/nysfocus.com\/2025\/07\/09\/trump-big-beautiful-bill-new-york-medicaid-snap\">9 million New Yorkers,<\/a> roughly 35% of the state. But Republicans in Congress passed a law in 2025 that will <a href=\"https:\/\/fiscalpolicy.org\/the-state-is-understating-threats-to-nys-medicaid-after-obbba\">cut<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nysfocus.com\/2025\/07\/09\/trump-big-beautiful-bill-new-york-medicaid-snap\">over 1.5 million<\/a> New Yorkers from healthcare coverage, starting in January 2027, and will result in the loss of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysac.org\/media\/olth4cpo\/obbba-explainer-impact-report.pdf\">$8 billion<\/a> annually from <a href=\"https:\/\/fiscalpolicy.org\/the-state-is-understating-threats-to-nys-medicaid-after-obbba\">NY hospitals<\/a> and providers, eliminating nearly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.ny.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/2025-07\/OBBBA-House-and-Senate-jobs-and-economic-impact-June-2025-FINAL.pdf\">63,000 jobs.<\/a> This could force hospitals to curtail critical services such as maternity care and psychiatric treatment, to downsize operations, or close, putting $14.4 billion in economic activities at risk.
