}<\/style><\/p><ul><li><p><strong>Assemblyman Daniel Norber lied when he claimed his<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nysenate.gov\/legislation\/bills\/2025\/A8621\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong>legislation<\/strong><\/a><strong> to convert, or \u201calienate&#8221; a portion of Kings Point Park (KPP) into a private parking lot was intended for the enjoyment of \u201c<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnparks.org\/DocumentCenter\/View\/9280\/GNPD-Statement-Addressing-Pursuit-by-Village-of-Kings-Point-of-Parkland-Alienation-Legislation-to-Substitue-6-Acres-for-2-acres-2?bidId=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>the greater community<\/strong><\/a>&#8220;<strong>. <\/strong><strong>(Alienation is the legislative process that turns parkland into non-park use.)<\/strong><\/p><\/li><\/ul><h3>Why You May Believe the Lie:<\/h3><ul><li><strong>Although he lacked an understanding of the flooding, traffic and other impacts of the proposed alienation, <em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">and without community input<\/span><\/em>, Norber introduced a bill in the NY State Assembly, on June 9, 2025 to take nearly 2.5 acres of KPP for a private parking lot.<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>The Great Neck Park District attempted to<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/towns\/kings-point-park-alienation-parkland-j87gwd3j\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> shift the narrative<\/a><\/strong><strong> away from the parkland alienation by convincing the public that the<\/strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gnparksny.gov\/DocumentCenter\/View\/9280\/Original-GNPD-Statement-Addressing-Pursuit-by-Village-of-Kings-Point-of-Parkland-Alienation-Legislation?bidId=\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> purpose<\/a><\/strong><strong> is to swap this 2.5 acre active parkland for a larger parcel of land located a mile away that could be turned into a passive park.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h3>The Truth:<\/h3><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Norber\u2019s failure to conduct due diligence, and his unwillingness to suspend his efforts to alienate the parkland, even after being informed of the deficiencies, <\/strong><b>compelled the community to successfully file an<\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/iapps.courts.state.ny.us\/nyscef\/ViewDocument?docIndex=ozLeiqTZpER9pRGDxlodXQ==\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <b>Article 78 proceeding<\/b><\/a><b>.<\/b><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Despite the community\u2019s opposition to the parkland alienation, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Norber allowed his bill to be automatically introduced in the 2026 Legislative session<\/em><\/span>.\u00a0 He finally withdrew the bill in March 2026, five months after the Village agreed to annul their Negative Declaration.\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nevertheless, a new environmental analysis is underway, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>Norber has yet to engage his constituents nor demand transparency in the regulatory process.<\/em><\/span><\/b><\/li><\/ul><h3>Action You Can Take:<\/h3><ul><li><strong>Share this
