}<\/style>\n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b354a98 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"b354a98\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>County Executive Bruce Blakeman has been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/opinion\/the-point\/numc-ice-affordability-suffolk-supervisors-mivozkjs\">taking pot-shots<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/numc-media-blitz-s099uiuf\"> trying to blame<\/a> NYS Governor Kathy Hochul for the problems at the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) since early 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c50f3f4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-jnews_element_header_elementor\" data-id=\"c50f3f4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"jnews_element_header_elementor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div  class=\"jeg_block_heading jeg_block_heading_5 jeg_alignleft jnews_module__1_6acb81fe410a5   \">\n                <h3 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span><i class=' fa fa-feed'><\/i>Why You May Believe the Lie: <\/span><\/h3>\n                \n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c071cca elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"c071cca\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>In\u00a0 2025, the Blakeman-installed leadership at NUMC launched a media campaign that included <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/numc-media-blitz-s099uiuf\">mailers, TV commercials, and social media posts<\/a>, portraying their performance positively, suggesting that Blakeman\u2019s hand-picked team were doing a great job.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Despite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/opinion\/the-point\/the-point-newsday-numc-meg-ryan-bruce-blakeman-anne-donnelly-nassau-county-da-qt940u62\">warnings <\/a>from their attorneys that there was no viable \u201cpath to victory,\u201d <em>Blakeman\u2019s team filed a lawsuit against the State and the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/nifa-legal-contract-numc-gae2ntm5\">seeking $1.06 billion<\/a>, accusing the State of &#8220;systemic theft.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8973018 elementor-widget elementor-widget-jnews_element_header_elementor\" data-id=\"8973018\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"jnews_element_header_elementor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div  class=\"jeg_block_heading jeg_block_heading_5 jeg_alignleft jnews_module__2_6acb81fe4153b   \">\n                <h3 class=\"jeg_block_title\"><span><i class=' fa fa-eye'><\/i>The Truth: <\/span><\/h3>\n                \n            <\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-63eaa7f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"63eaa7f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li><strong>Under Blakeman\u2019s watch, NUMC had ignored the State\u2019s requirement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/politics\/nassau-university-medical-center-bruderman-mbhma7lw\">hire qualified professional hospital administrators<\/a> and create a plan to reduce budget deficits, a prerequisite to secure $83 million in emergency funds.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Frustrated with Blakeman\u2019s mismanagement, Albany passed legislation in spring 2025 giving Governor Hochul control of NUMC. In January 2026, with the hospital under new leadership, Hochul <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/01\/18\/us-news\/hochul-crows-about-109m-for-nassau-university-medical-center-but-critics-gripe-it-belonged-to-hosp-already\/\">announced<\/a> over $100 million in state funding to stabilize its finances.<\/strong><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><em><strong>As of June 2026, NYS Attorney General Letitia James is investigating Meg Ryan for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsday.com\/long-island\/investigations\/attorney-general-numc-of9d59ms\">alleged misuse of hospital funds<\/a> for dinners, travel and other payments.
